Construction of Water Reservoirs “Pod Okny”

Work begins on the “Pod Okny” reservoirs in Nepomuky na Moravě
Construction of the “Pod Okny” water reservoirs started this summer in the cadastral area of Nepomuky na Moravě. The investor is Ing. Tomáš Kučera. The project is a small cascade of landscape water bodies on a local stream, not a large dam. The coordination plan was prepared by Natura Koncept s.r.o. of Prague / Jindřichův Hradec. The responsible designer is Ing. Tomáš Sobotka; the drawing was prepared by Ing. Alena Špičková.
What is being built
Reservoir No. 1, the main basin
The storage basin.
Dam length | 220.60 m |
Reinforced upstream slope | 89.60 m |
Crest at the overflow edge | 650.50 m a.s.l. |
Normal water level (Hn) | 649.70 m a.s.l. |
Maximum water level (Hmax) | 650.15 m a.s.l. |
Overflow crest | 649.70 m a.s.l., 5.1 m long |
Surface at Hn | 3,490 m² |
Surface at Hmax | 4,490 m² |
Storage at Hn | 4,774 m³ |
Total volume at Hmax | 6,551 m³ |
Flood / retention volume | 1,777 m³ |
Shallow littoral (to 0.5 m) | 580 m² — 14% of the Hn surface |
Sedimentation pool on the incoming stream
A shallow oval pool that takes the stream before it reaches the reservoir. It is designed to drop sediment and to create a wide planted margin.
Plan area | 780 m² |
Length / width | 42.5 m / 22.8 m |
Normal water level (Hn) | 650.39 m a.s.l. |
Surface at Hn | 617 m² |
Volume at Hn | 563 m³ |
Maximum water level (Hmax) | 650.53 m a.s.l. |
Surface at Hmax | 662 m² |
Maximum volume | 730 m³ |
Shallow littoral (to 0.5 m) | 221 m² — 35.8% of the Hn surface |
Each structure has an outlet arrangement and a safety overflow. The reservoir also has a dam, a stilling basin and a waste channel.
Site work started in summer 2026. The planned completion of construction is September 2026. The reservoirs are expected to fill with water in winter 2026/27.
